Vulcan XH558 To The Sky

Discover through drama what it takes for Vulcan XH558 to fly! For a different approach to understanding the people, the science and the technology that enable this awesome aircraft to take to the sky.

• Start with an introduction in the First Class Cabin to gain an overview of the Vulcan to the Sky project.
• Briefly discuss and demonstrate in the classroom some of the key concepts of forces and movement - lift, gravity, thrust and drag.
• Divide into groups and recreate the key components through drama and movement.
• Visit the working hangar to see the awesome Vulcan XH558.
• Can we return Vulcan XH558 to flight by putting all of the components together?
• Conclusion in the First Class Cabin.

Half Day       Morning:      10.00 am - 12.00 pm   or

45 minutes    Work in groups to recreate the components

15 minutes    Explore the cockpit exhibit

30 minutes    In the hangar see Vulcan XH558 and in the visitor area see if we can return her to flight through drama

10 minutes    Concluding session in the First Class Cabin
